Comedy royalty turns out in wedding finery

Luckily the top job went to Mitchell?s comedy partner Robert Webb, who helped usher celebrity guests including Frank Skinner, David Baddiel and Jimmy Carr to St Peter?s Church in London?s Belsize Park for yesterday?s nuptials.

The bride, who presents the cult BBC4 quiz show Only Connect, beamed as she arrived on the arm of brother Giles, the food critic and TV presenter.

He stepped in for their late father Alan Coren, the humorist and former editor of Punch magazine who died in 2007.

As well as walking his sister down the aisle, he also gave a speech at the reception at Claridge?s in Mayfair, where guests included the comedian Barry Cryer and former Sunday Express editor Eve Pollard.

Yesterday Giles joked in his column for The Times: ?Must dash. Got a speech to write. I?m giving my sister away to be married this afternoon, to the brilliant comedian (and lovely, lovely man) David Mitchell.

Must dash. Got a speech to write. I?m giving my sister away to be married this afternoon,

?He?ll be making the groom?s speech, of course, followed by his comedy partner, Robert Webb, giving the best man?s. Whenever I mention this to people, they say: ?Phew, no pressure there, then!? I know just what they mean. Poor lads. Imagine having to go after ME.?

Victoria, 39, was attended by two bridesmaids, best friends Claudia Winkleman, who co-hosts the Strictly results show on Sundays, and artist Nicola Green, who is married to Labour MP David Lammy.

Mitchell, 38, met Victoria at a film premiere in 2007. He had to wait three years before his feelings were reciprocated, but the couple announced their engagement in March.

They plan to tour England and Scotland on honeymoon.
